Meet Director of Photography George Amos.

George was given his first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, before the age of 10 and by his late teens he was printing black and whites. After school he followed his passion for photography and joined the South African film industry working his way up through the Grip and Camera departments.

George has long been considered as one SA’s finest camera operators working on numerous shows including feature films such as Tomb Raider, Dark Tower and Monster Hunter as well as TV series including Stars’ ‘Black Sails’ (4 seasons), HBO/Cinemax’s ‘Warrior’ (2 seasons) and work abroad on Netflix’s ‘The Spy’.

After combining his skill for framing with the art of storytelling, George has taken the next step to become a Cinematographer. Some of his early work includes Second Unit DOP assignments on The Kissing Booth 2&3, Warrior and Escape Room 2 as well as a several local and international commercials.

Working locally and abroad, in Africa and Europe, George has honed his skillset and is known to swiftly build a great rapport with both cast and crew alike.

Away from work, George is an avid surfer and his colleagues are often amused when he takes his boards to far flung locations including deserts just on the off chance there is an opportunity to travel and catch a wave.
